H.O.P.E Academy

H.O.P.E. ("Helping Others Pursue Excellence") Academy is a program designed to address the needs of middle and high school students that have not been met in school. The students referred to H.O.P.E. Academy are typically at risk of educational failure (as indicated by poor grades, truancy, disruptive behavior, credit deficiency, or similar factors associated with temporary or permanent withdrawal from school). STUDENTS MUST BE REFERRED BY SCHOOL ADMINISTRATIVE PERSONNEL TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS PROGRAM.

A school caseworker will work with all students and families referred and serve as a family liaison; additionally, a dean of students is employed to monitor behavior and establish a rapport to work with students having any behavior issues.

The curriculum is aligned with the Ohio Academic Content Standards and Common Core.  All core classes, English, Science, Social Studies, and Mathematics are covered.  Additionally, there are a variety of electives available.  Students in the program also take credit recovery courses as needed to gain credit for courses they may have failed in the past.

This program will be held on campus in a computer lab setting. Students will receive course work by computerized instruction, with tutors available to assist.

There are three time options guardians may choose from:

-All day (7:45am to 2:45pm) (transportation is available by bus for Austintown residents ONLY)

-half day (8am-12pm) (NO TRANSPORTATION IS PROVIDED)

-half day (12pm-4pm) (NO TRANSPORTATION IS PROVIDED)

Most important, we ask that our parents remain to be a vital role in the education of their child by checking their child’s progress weekly, maintaining communication with tutors, encouraging and motivating their child to succeed, and ensuring that their child is in the lab during their scheduled times.
