David Cappuzzello is honored and humbled to be named Austintown Local School District’s Superintendent. He has been in education for thirty years; eleven as a teacher; eleven as a principal and eight as superintendent. David is recognized as a strong leader because of his ability to listen, communicate shared ideas and positively act with all stakeholders, especially students. His passion is doing what is best for students.
David is a 1984 graduate of Chaney High School. After graduation he continued his baseball career at The University of Akron, breaking two pitching records during his college career. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education in 1988. He started his teaching career at Lakeview Middle School and coached varsity basketball and varsity baseball. David continued his education at The University of Akron where he earned his Master’s Degree in School Administration. After eleven years of teaching he served as principal at Southeast Local Schools and Columbiana Exempted School Districts. In 2010, David received his superintendent’s license from Ashland University; shortly after he was named superintendent of Girard City Schools where he served in that capacity for the last eight years.
David and his wife, Susie, live in Columbiana. Together they have four adult children Andrew (Angie), Katie, Dan and Cara.
