Local Mathematics Instructional Coach Heather Wukelich has been named an ‘Illuminator of the Year’ for her notable contributions at Austintown Local Schools. The honor, bestowed by leading K-12 student achievement solution Illuminate Education, is awarded to a select group of educators and administrators committed to increasing the power of teaching and the delight of learning.


KINDERGARTEN KICK-OFF AES March 14, 2019 at 6pm
Join us for the Austintown Elementary Kindergarten Kick-Off!  We are looking forward to welcoming our 2019-2020 kindergarten students into the Austintown Local Schools family.  Students and parents will have the opportunity to tour kindergarten classrooms, meet staff members and learn about transitioning smoothly from home or preschool to kindergarten.  Information on staggered start, summer programs as well as tips to assist your child before and during kindergarten will all be discussed. All incoming kindergarten students, along with their parents, should attend this important event.

Children who are 5 years old on or before AUGUST 1ST 2019, will be eligible for Kindergarten for the 2019-2020 school year.

The Austintown Schools will operate on a 2 hour delay schedule February 7 due to fog.

AES 100th Day for First Graders

Austintown Elementary School celebrated its 100th day of class on, February 21, 2014. For the 1st graders' celebration the teachers, Kerry Blakeman, Patty Manning, Chrissy Petridis, and Diana Powell got together and organized a canned food donation for the Second Harvest Food Bank of Mahoning Valley.

The Fitch Concert Choir will be presenting their annual Cabaret on Sunday, March 30 in the Fitch auditorium at 3:00pm There are 40 acts this year. Many members of the Concert Choir will be singing solos and duets from some of Broadway's best shows!  There will aslo be an ensemble performances of a medley from "Newsies."

One of Austintown Intermediate School’s 3rd grade teachers, Dana Elias-Patrick has started a project with her 3rd grade students to design a quilt. They all read the story, The Patchwork Quilt, where a grandmother creates a quilt made with different pieces of cloth that represent different memories.

AIS Explores Math Through B.U.I.L.D.

This school year, Kelly Castronova, an Austintown Intermediate School 3rd grade teacher and Math Committee Member has helped introduce a new learning tool for students, called B.U.I.L.D. This tool allows students to explore mathematical topics through hands-on learning.

On Friday, January 31 Austintown Middle School started their Pasta for Pennies fundraising drive.  Pasta for Pennies is a national fundraising program in partnership with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and more than three million students.

February and March Late Starts Changed to Full Days!

In consultation with our teachers, principals and parents, we have decided to cancel the two-hour delays that were scheduled on February 19th and March 19th as a result of many days we have had to cancel or alter this year.  These will now be full, normal school days giving our staff increased instructional time prior to standardized testing.  We are dedicated to providing the best possible education to our students and we appreciate your understanding as we make adjustments to gain more instructional time with them.

The Austintown Local School District we be celebrating the opening of AES and AIS by hosting Awesometown 2013 and a community celebration on October 6th.  The day will be full of events from 9:00 AM until the closing ceremony at 5:00 PM.

Girls Basketball standout, Sabria Hunter, recently broke Fitch High School’s career rebounding record for both boys and girls basketball. 
The high school senior broke the previous record of 804 rebounds, which had been held by Christina Toth since 1997.

Chromebook Parent Night

The Austintown Local Schools will offer another Chromebook Parent Night on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Fitch High School in the auditorium. On this night, parents can choose three different times.  There will be sessions at 3 pm, 5 pm, and 7 pm that evening.

Fitch Softball Wins Tournament in Myrtle Beach

Congratulations to the Austintown Lady Falcons! The Softball Team traveled to Myrtle Beach over Spring Break (April 14 - 18) and defeated Priceville, Alabama 3-0; Elmira, New York 5-4; Wesleyan Christian, North Carolina 2-1; South County, Virginia 1-0; and James Madison, Virginia 7-6. They finished 5-0 and won the Myrtle Beach's Grand Strand Classic tournament!

On Saturday, April 5th the Fitch Academic Team competed in the NAQT State Tournament in Columbus, OH. Fitch won 2 out of 10 rounds this year.


Fitch Spanish 4 Students Become the Teachers

Recently, Mrs. Lisa Costello’s Spanish 4 classes have begun the Spanish Teaching Program at the Austintown Elementary School. These students visit AES two times per week, and will be teaching the first and second graders basic Spanish through the end of May.

On Tuesday, May 20th the Austintown Intermediate School’s 5th Grade Choir will sing the National Anthem for the Pittsburgh Pirates versus the Baltimore Orioles baseball game at PNC Park.

2014 Fitch Volleyball Little Spikers Program

Every Sunday starting September 7, 2014 and ending September 28, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. will be the Little Spikers Program. Grades 3 and 4 students will be from 4:00 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. and grades 5 and 6 will be from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

There will be a 2 day Volleyball Camp for girls entering grades 5 and 6 on June 12 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. and on June 13 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

There will be a 3 day Volleyball Camp for girls entering grades 7 and 8 on June 18 -20 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

5th Graders Go Green

Mrs. Alicia Burnfield’s 5th grade science class is learning about the environment and recycling over the next few weeks. For their unit project they created a Go Green Book. The assignment asked students to write down reasons why they they should protect the earth, and then explain what actions they could take to ensure the earth’s safety.  The students took pictures and filmed video of items that they recycled for their book.
